Portland Center Stage is adding a new level of accessibility to their productions. In addition to one interpreted performance and one audio described performance for each play, they will now be offering one open captioned performance. The captioning company they are using provides captioning services to Broadway shows, many touring shows, and many major national theaters around the US.
The open captioned performances are generally scheduled for 2:00 pm matinees on Saturdays, with two exceptions: "Twist Your Dickens," which will be on a Sunday matinee, and "The Santaland Diaries," which does not have an open captioned performance due to the busy holiday schedule for the captioning company.
The dates for the open captioned performances at Portland Center Stage are on the following dates:
Main Stage shows:
Dreamgirls, November 1
*Twist Your Dickens, Sunday, December 21, 2 pm*
Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, February 7
Other Desert Cities, March 21
Cyrano, May 2
Three Days of Rain, June 20
The Typographer's Dream, November 15
Threesome, February 21
The People's Republic of Portland, April 18
The Lion, June 13
When you order your tickets for main stage plays, make sure to tell the box office staff that you need tickets with sightlines to the open captions (house right). Note that tickets in the Ellen Bye Studio theater are general seating and the open captions will vary based on the production.
