"Tribes" at Artists Repertory Theatre : Auditions and more

Artists Repertory Theatre (A.R.T.) presents "Tribes," written by Nina Raine, as a part of their upcoming 2014-15 season. More about the play below.

The more immediate information about the production of "Tribes" here in Portland, OR, is that the central character, Billy, is Deaf and A.R.T. is holding open auditions next Tuesday 6/17 and Thursday 6/19 for their 2014-15 season. There will be an interpreter available at the auditions.


AUDITION INFORMATION *check the website for other important information*:
Auditions: June 17, 2014, 9am – 5pm
Auditions: June 19, 10am – 4pm

Please prepare two contrasting monologues. One contemporary and one classical, preferably in rhyming verse, not exceeding 5 min total. 
Bring two copies of your headshot and resume. 
AEA ACTORS
Please email casting@artistsrep.org to schedule a 10 minute audition slot. Note any conflicts you may have with the audition times.

NON-AEA ACTORS
Open call. Audition slots with be assigned on a first come, first serve basis on the day of auditions.

Tribes is "A contemporary drama that centers on Billy, the only deaf member of a competitively comedic and intellectual family. Unsupported by his parents and siblings, he reaches out to the deaf community and learns sign language, creating funny but fierce tensions at home. Billy finally confronts his childhood resentments, while he and his family struggle with the intricacies of language and the human need to belong to a tribe."  The play will run February 3 - March 8, 2015 at Artists Repertory Theatre in Portland, Oregon.

"A rock-show retelling of the bloody legend of America’s favorite ax-wielding double-murderess and Victorian hometown girl. Lizzie Borden, who has become fodder for jump rope rhymes and TV movies of the week, was a Massachusetts woman who was acquitted in 1892 of the ax murders of her father and stepmother, and lived the rest of her life as American’s first infamous tabloid star. But did she really do it? And if so, why?"

The estimated run time is one hour and 45 minutes, including one intermission.
