This comedic masterpiece spans the entirety of history, with one ordinary American family who lives through it all. Dad’s just invented the wheel, Cain is throwing rocks at the neighbor kid, mammoths and dinosaurs lounge in the family room and mom frets about how to get all those animals on the boat two by two. Through Ice Ages, biblical floods and political conventions, the Antrobus family of Excelsior, New Jersey perseveres. With a giant cast and time-set across the ages, this theatrical allegory captures the human spirit – of brilliance, idiocy and ultimately sweet survival.

Synopsis: Tennessee Williams’ iconic Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece is an exquisite study of the unraveling of Blanche DuBois, a fading southern belle. When she arrives unexpectedly on the doorstep of her sister, Stella, and her brother-in-law, Stanley Kowalski, Blanche is clinging desperately to a persona designed to help her survive. Over the course of one hot, sultry New Orleans summer, Blanche’s fragile facade slowly crumbles as she meets her match in the rough-hewn and hyper masculine Stanley, who is determined to expose her.

Cast: Demetrius Grosse and Deidrie Henry from NBC’s gripping new drama Game of Silence (premiering on April 12), will take on the roles of Stanley and Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire. Two other television regulars join them: Stella will be played by Kristen Adele (The Mysteries of Laura and Orange is the New Black, among others) and Mitch will be played by Keith Eric Chappelle (Madam Secretary and Elementary, among others; on Broadway in A Raisin in the Sun and Cyrano de Bergerac). Seven local actors complete the cast: Bobby Bermea, Dana Millican, Gilberto Martin del Campo, Anya Pearson, David Bodin, Sofia May-Cuxim and Blake Stone.

Note: A Streetcar Named Desire is recommended for ages 14+. Contains mature content and iconic lines like, “I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.” The actors in this production will be using tobacco-free herbal cigarettes. Children under 6 are not permitted at any PCS production.

In an industrial soup kitchen in the Bronx, Shelley is a nun struggling to pray and questioning her life’s work. Her world in service to the needy, alongside a Dominican immigrant security guard and joke-writing “regular,” is rocked when a rainbow-haired college drop-out comes to volunteer. The girl’s enthusiasm and erratic behavior will change the course of their lives. With touching humor this motley group unravels the intricacies of need, the vagaries of compassion and limits of forgiveness.

"Since the 1980s, the ascension of black people within the professional classes, rather than indicating real progress in the fight for equality, has instead presented a major obstacle for working class and anti-racist struggles against economic and social inequalities that in fact seem to be widening. This presentation explores how black art and performance has both purposefully and unwittingly negotiated this problem that has become a defining feature of social and cultural life in America.

Anoop Mirpuri is Assistant Professor of English and affiliate faculty in Black Studies at Portland State University. He teaches and writes about African American literature, the black radical tradition, and the relation between race, capitalism, and criminalization."

A multiracial cast of six idealistic actors sets out to improvise a story about the first colonial genocide of the 20th Century in Africa, but get lost in the reality of their undertaking. The unusual presentation, humor and inevitable discomfort of this provocative new play gripped theatre hubs like New York, Chicago, London, Washington D.C. and Seattle with its unique theatrical investigation of prejudice, power and perspective.

CymaSpace is a Portland, OR based non-profit that focuses on making cultural events inclusive for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. We develop art and performances that largely feature the synergy of sound, light, and vibration - some of which have been featured on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show, in the Oregon Museum Science and Industry (OMSI), and the Portland Winter Light Festival.

CymaSpace was founded by Myles de Bastion, because as a musician and visual interaction designer who also happens to be Deaf, he experienced first-hand the challenge of participating in a world, that for most part takes for granted the accessibility of sound.

CymaSpace serves to create bridges between the Deaf and the Hearing in a positive way that open doors for underserved minorities, changes misconceptions about Deafness and is striving to make a real, socio-economic difference. Through our work, we show that by lowering barriers that prevent equal access to art and culture, everyone benefits.
CymaSpace is an entirely volunteer-run organization that consists of a thriving community of engineers, artists and forward-thinking partnering organizations who are pioneering the next generation of accessibility, as it pertains to arts and cultural events.

A CymaSpace event is something that needs to be experienced first-hand, all art technology and modern accessibility implementations are developed in-house and cannot be not readily found anywhere else. Whether you are Hearing, Deaf or Hard of Hearing, young or old, all of your senses will be engaged!

Guests will be treated not only to complimentary food, drinks, and their very own sound-reactive LED bracelet, but an opportunity to interact with our featured artist works, close up and made personal.

Play a sound-reactive LED piano, experience what sound really “feels” and “looks” like, witness an immersive fusion of American Sign Language with performance art, and use hands-on musical vibration to create beautifully marbled Cymatic paintings. These are just some of the activities that will be available to all guests.

The play will explore the experiences of women in the U.S. Armed Forces: some have survived tours of duty in combat zones, some cope with military sexual trauma, all of them share what it was for them to be living and working in  a male dominated environment.
