*ASL cancelled* ART's "The Hombres" interpreted 9/30/2022

Artists Repertory Theatre presents
an interpreted performance of

ASL interpretation is cancelled
due to COVID infection in the interpreting team.

The Friday 9/30 performance will continue; but it will not be interpreted.

The Hombres

Date & Time: Friday, September 30th at 7:30 pm
Tickets: Pay at your comfort level $20-60
Location: Ellen Bye Theatre at The Armory (lower level)
128 NW Eleventh, Portland OR 97209

summary:
Set in New Jersey, The Hombres offers a delicate, funny exploration of masculinity and intimacy of male friendships. Three Latino construction workers are drawn to the yoga studio, initially by voyeuristically watching women in classes from their job site next door. Gradually, their curiosity draws them in, one by one, to private, after-hours classes with the gay instructor whose sexual orientation challenges their machismo and sense of self. A laugh out loud, fresh, nuanced look at the complexity of male friendships through the lens of the machismo culture.
Artists Repertory Theatre is committed to protecting the health and well-being of patrons, artists, and staff. All patrons to ART events must wear face masks at all times except when eating or drinking in designated areas.

Biased Brains - ASL night Fri 9/23

Why Do Our Brains Care About Belonging & Inclusion?

DATE & TIME: Friday 9/23/2022.  Doors at 7:00pm / Show at 7:30pm

LOCATION: The Siren Theater, 315 NW Davis St, Portland, OR 97209

INTERPRETERS:   Ruth Nardecchia & Chelsea Huber

TICKETS: Suggested scale of $20-$40 (PWYW)

RAFFLE PRIZES: Expect goodies galore from local PDX businesses

We’re leaving shame ‘n’  blame at the door as we explore the Neurology of Equity & Inclusion in an approachable (and dare we say FUN?!) format. Is it a workshop? Is it a play? It’s BOTH!

We’ll first learn about why our brains are hard-wired to do some weird sh*t in a 45-minute workshop facilitated by Monica Dailey. Everyone is at different stages in their personal Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) journeys, and this workshop will be an opportunity to check in with yourself and take advantage of this safe space for quiet self-reflection. There will be no group discussion or public sharing.

After a 15-minute intermission, the workshop concepts come to life in a scripted play. Welcome to Sk8Town, where our fun-loving roller rink employees experience a barrage of brain biases! Our fully BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ cast collectively wrote the script, drawing on personal experiences and sprinkling on humor to make these stories more palatable.

Starring & Written by Elena Afanasiev, Jonathan Wexler, Mariah Mercedes Munoz, Monica Dailey, Shelly Santa Cruz, and Talon Bigelow

Things to note:

- Cash & card accepted for concessions & tickets at the door
- Masks are highly appreciated when not actively drinking or eating
- Please stay home if you are not feeling well or have had recent exposure to COVID
- Performers will not be masked

**Biased Brains is funded in part by the Regional Arts & Culture Council**

"The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)[Revised]" and interpreted! 7/18/2021

Bag&Baggage Productions presents
an interpreted performance of
date & time: Sunday, July 18th at 7:30 pm

location:  Tom Hughes Civic Center Plaza, 150 Main St, Hillsboro OR

tickets: free but reservations are required.

"3 actors. 37 Shakespeare plays. 97 minutes. The Complete Works… is a wild, irreverent celebration of the Bard’s work, full of laughter for Shakespeare lovers (and haters) alike!"

"Attendees are asked to bring their own seating and maintain social distancing guidelines."

"Fresh out of COVID lockdown, three enthusiastic, overachieving   actors attempt to stage all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays in a mere 97 minutes. What could possibly go wrong?! The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [Revised] has become a cult classic since its 1987 premiere, full of enough physical comedy, witty turns of phrase, and improvisational moments to win over any Shakespeare lover… or hater.

The 2021 Bag&Baggage production of the show is brought to you free of charge by the City of Hillsboro in celebration of the arts in our community and the fact that we can share live theatre together once again! Reserve your free ticket, grab your friends, and we’ll see you at the (outdoor) theater! "
