Summary:

Lisa invites you on the Kron family “vacation” to Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio. You see, in spite of near-blindness, diabetes and a heart condition, Lisa’s 75-year-old father Walter insists on yearly trips to the world capital of roller coasters. But this isn’t the only journey they take together. Lisa also accompanies him to Auschwitz, where his parents were killed, and where she comes to understand more clearly the joys and sorrows of her father’s heart. A complex and searingly funny meditation on how human beings make sense of tragedy, grief, and everyday life.

"In October 2015, Nikki Weaver sent a letter to 60 women - some she knew and some she didn’t - requesting a piece of fabric and an explanation of its sentimental value. The result is Weaving Women Together, an entirely female-driven piece about the loss of Weaver’s mother and how she has collected her in other women, and a magic skirt made entirely of the tales - and fabric - shared by these women."

"A complete send-up of the holiday classic, this adult comedy is adorned with the improvisational genius of the legendary comedy troupe The Second City. It has become a Portland holiday favorite, and will return in 2017 after runs at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and Goodman Theatre in Chicago this past season."

SUMMARY:

A kid makes a list for his mom. A list of everything worth living for in the world. He needs her to read the list so she doesn’t try to leave the world again. As the kid grows up and experiences more life, more love, and more loss, his list of every brilliant thing gets longer and more vital with each addition. Duncan Macmillan’s play shines hilarious and compassionate light in dark corners of the human condition, and the way in which the creators have constructed the performance is refreshingly theatrical. A reminder that hope is never truly lost, and a testament to the healing power of storytelling.

Reminder about two interpreted performances this week. Both are musicals and both are definitely worth attending!

First up is "Fun Home" at Portland Center Stage at the Armory. The show was almost completely sold out two days ago, so tickets may or may not still be available. But go if you can!
